COLOUR EXPERT

"Color is a universal language and that's what makes it the most powerful marketing lever."

Since childhood, Marie-Chantal Milette has been captivated by the influence of color. Standing in front of paint displays, she wondered who named the shades — and who decided which ones would suddenly set the tone for an entire season. What began as simple curiosity evolved into a mission: understanding, predicting, and sharing the forces that shape color and cultural trends.

Today, she is among the rare internationally recognized color experts, known for having predicted the Pantone® Color of the Year multiple times. Her journey is as bold as her palettes: a graduate in graphic design and advertising from The Creative Circus, she went on to study color psychology with Leatrice Eiseman, director of the Pantone® Color Institute, and earned a certificate from the University of Stirling on adapting design for people living with dementia.

A magnetic speaker and passionate communicator, she brings energy wherever she goes, revealing how up to 92% of a product, space, or brand’s first impression comes down to color. Through her agency, Kryptonie, she guides brands and trains teams for clients such as Formica, Artopex, Costco, and S&S Activewear — turning color into a strategic, high-impact, and unmistakably trendy driver of performance, well-being, and lasting emotional connection.

  • SELLING THE INVISIBLE

How do you sell what cannot be seen—a concept, a service, an idea? This presentation explores color as a tool for trust and tangibility in environments where the offering has no physical form. Ideal for service companies, technology firms, or institutions, it shows how color can convey abstract values such as security, innovation, or well-being. Through compelling examples, Marie-Chantal Milette demonstrates how to anchor emotions in the intangible, making the invisible visible to consumers. An inspiring presentation that helps brands build a coherent, credible, and emotionally grounded universe, even without a product to show.

  • WHAT COLOR MAKES US SWALLOW

What if our appetite was dictated by color? This presentation explores the fascinating intersection between color, sensory perception, and eating behavior. Perfect for food brands and packaging designers, this presentation reveals how to convey the nutritional value, freshness, or energy of a product through the simple choice of a shade. Content as appetizing as it is instructive, revealing why our eyes eat before our mouth.

  • WORKPLACE WELL-BEING

Reinventing workspaces to boost motivation and encourage return to the office is a societal challenge. Through color psychology and emotional ergonomics, participants discover how hues influence productivity, collaboration, and employee morale. The presentation offers concrete solutions to adapt professional environments to the changing needs of teams—from creating quiet zones to stimulating creativity in common areas. Through actionable strategies, companies can transform their space design into a tool for performance, retention, and collective well-being.

  • WELL-BEING AT ANY AGE

This training highlights the effects of aging on color perception and how design can improve the quality of life for seniors. By exploring age-related visual changes—such as lens opacity or reduced sensitivity to contrasts—participants learn to adapt environments to promote readability, wayfinding, and safety. Color becomes a tool for universal accessibility, essential for designing inclusive, reassuring, and stimulating spaces. Focused on prevention, visual psychology, and eye health, this presentation helps designers and managers anticipate the needs of an aging population. The result: environments that are both inclusive and caring, promoting autonomy, memory, and comfort.

  • WELL-BEING AT HOME

This training explores the psychological and functional impact of colors in residential spaces. Each room of the home is analyzed according to its emotional needs, lighting, perception, and occupant comfort. Participants discover how to adapt color schemes to create calming, balanced, and harmonious environments. The objective is to use color as a lever for well-being and quality of life, taking into account physiological effects and the personality of the inhabitants. At the end of the presentation, a guided exercise allows participants to concretely apply what they've learned to their own environment. An essential training for professionals seeking to design interiors that support daily well-being and foster a more human connection between space, emotion, and design.

And the color wheel turns. Certain colors will assert themselves in the coming years.

Without being completely eclipsed, others will be less present or will appear in muted versions. This is the case with red, whose effects on the brain are stimulating and which represents the political side, opposition, activism. Absent from summer color palettes, it should return in less vibrant shades in the fall, estimates Marie-Chantal Milette, color specialist. This is also the case with purple, which is associated with creativity and will likely emerge more during periods of "repair."

Predicting the colors of tomorrow

Upon finding a paint sample, young Marie-Chantal Milette had a revelation: "Are people actually paid to choose color names?" Probably too expensive, in her father's opinion, unimpressed by that "chalice green" and far from suspecting that this piece of paper would spark a vocation. Twenty years later, she is one of the rare color experts in the world and predicts those of tomorrow.
